Birchip Cropping Group

The BCG spoke trial is located at "Kinnabulla" near Birchip in the Mallee region of Victoria.

Experimental Design

The experiment has three main farming systems as treatments

1. Intensive cropping without livestock: lentil-wheat-barley rotation
2. Mixed farming with sown annual pasture: vetch – wheat – barley rotation with X DSE per ha stocking rate – Dry ewes used to simulate traded store lambs.
3. Responsive system un-replicated where rotation is decided by the trial site reference/steering group.
